My name is Wendy (she/her) and I teach high school social studies at Metro Deaf School in Saint Paul, MN, USA. That means I teach world history, US history, geography, civics, and economics. I enjoy teaching here because I get to teach a little of everything. What is challenging in my setting is most of the students are unable to communicate effectively with their families (their families don't know ASL, and many are not comfortable with English). This means that my students don't have access to world knowledge or community/family information that other teens pick up without thinking about it. So we do a lot of filling in gaps.
