Hi everyone. I'm Maureen, a professor of medieval art history from St. Louis. While I have a pretty good grasp on medieval Christianity and European traditions, my knowledge of Islam and its traditions are from an outsider's perspective (esp. French and Franks entering Muslim spaces bordering the Mediterranean). I'm looking forward to learning more, so that I can direct students to new (to me) ideas. I'm trying to globalize my own knowledge so that I am better able to provide a larger context for my students. I'm not active on social media, fortunately or unfortunately.
Hello! I love the intersections of the Islamic world with Christian Europe! Are you already aware of the artistic influences in Renaissance Italy? If not, I'd love to geek out with you!
