Mansa Musa's extravagant display of wealth and generosity during his pilgrimage had a significant impact on the economies of the regions he passed through. His lavish spending of gold and other valuable resources in the cities he visited caused inflation for Alexandria which took years to recover from.

African Kingdoms were ruled by wealthy kings and not the stereotypical connection of African villages being poor. Mansa Musa's travels proved that he was Muslim which meant Western Africa was much more connected to more parts of the world than let to believe.
