Wainana's approach to using stereotypes in "How to Write About Africa" differs from that of Brown and Carroll in that he uses them to satirize the way in which Westerners often view Africa. He does this by exaggerating the stereotypes to the point of absurdity, making it clear that they are not accurate representations of the continent or its people. In contrast, Brown and Carroll use stereotypes to make generalizations about Africa and its people, which can be harmful and perpetuate negative stereotypes.
