"THE ANCESTORS ARE MEETING BECAUSE WE HAVE MET"
Kosisochukwu Nnebe
This article starts off by two ladies each speaking to a close family member that is helping them translate English to their native tongue. Through their halting attempts to speak their mother tongue, the work evidences language as both a site of ongoing colonial violence and a potential space for healing and restitution. Through colonialism their language their culture gets lost. Instead of decolonizing they want to find a way to blend both their native language to the language they speak now. This is now their new truth and they want the best of both worlds.
