After viewing Dr. Agha's presentation and exploring the Disembodied Territories website, colonialism has played a role in which those who are colonized view themselves and strive to regain their power back. Especially in regards to how these spaces specifically Nubia and how it was taken advantage of by Europeans. As well as the process that Nubian people went through to regain their power and re-establish themselves before they were colonized. It was also interesting to view how colonialism impacted the way that African Americans were policed in the 1960's. Huey P. Newton stressed the following: "This was a common refrain for the Panthers who likened the police forces’ treatment of people of colour in the US to a colonial occupation." So the same methods that were used to colonize and take over African countries were used and are still used to police African Americans in the United States. So it is very interesting to see these parallels between Africa and other countries throughout the world.
