It’s exciting to see these new journals building out the space for literary culture throughout Africa, and from Africa to the broader world. Despite the perennial money woes of digital publishing platforms, along with the staffing challenges they entail, these literary platforms are working to bring visibility to new talent and to give voice to a new generation of African creators. Featuring material and perspectives that often lack adequate representation in Western periodicals, the journals also serve as hubs for creative collaboration between writers and artists, both in Africa and in the diaspora.
