I chose the Temple Complex named above in Sudan. This is a large site of ruins that date back to the 3rd century BC. The building is constructed in sandstone and the area has 3 ancient sites that represent the center of the Kingdom of Kush. This can be connected to the chemistry class I teach. Sandstone is made up of various elements, and I can discuss the elements in sandstone and connect that to material properties. Students can learn why the sandstone was built in that way.
