Rachel Parks was the widow of Ransom Parks. She applied for the benefits of her late husband Ransom Parks. She did this under the Acto of Congress of July of 1862. She had to show proof that she was married to him and that they indeed married prior to his death. Ransom was also not free until he enlisted to serve the country. Rachel was asked to declare that she has not aided, abetted, or in any manner been engaged in the rebellion against the United States.
