This slide shows the influences of goods traded and sold along the Silk Road.  The three products shown were traditionally made in China.  The technology to produce paper, silk worms and the idea of painted pottery or stoneware was all brought to Baghdad through trade from the East, China.  From the readings, many other ideas and products also influenced the Abbasid Empire, for example teak wood for door carvings, and mathematical concepts like X.  Students would be asked to discuss goods, ideas, influences today that influence our culture today and look at how the same happened in the Middle Ages in Baghdad.
