Muhammad was orphaned and sent to live with a Bedouin family according to the Lumen Learning link below which helped explain the context of the passage. This background information would help students to understand the vignette in Ibn Ishaq's narrative.

https://courses.lumenlearning.com/suny-hccc-worldcivilization/chapter/early-life-of-muhammad/

I would share the following with students:

The story recounts how Amina d. Wahb, Muhammad's mother receives a supernatural message that her son is "...the lord of his people." The narration adds that there was a famine and various women chose random orphan babies to nurse and therefore, keep alive. Muhammad is the last baby to be chosen and Halima  becomes his foster mother. The infant Muhammad is signaled as a special being, as Halima, who has been living through a famine, has an abundance of milk to feed the baby.

This story could be further contextualized by exploring the vignette's mention of Abraham and Jesus.

Background reading:   https://www.britannica.com/money/kharaj

Baladari recounts the outcome of the Battle of Yarmuk in Syria in 636.

The Syrians win the battle headed by Heraclius and his Greek troops and and their allies in 636 C.E. Depending on the age of the audience (class), I might or might not share the details of some soldiers losing an eye or a leg.

Baldari says the Jews and Christians in the area are happy that the Byzantines have lost and the Muslims have won. (This may or may not be a bias of the author's background.)

An interesting sidebar for students to explore further would be the topic of taxes (tribute) paid for the various categories of citizens (converts or non-converts to Islam) See above. There are additional types of taxes to research.
