The article points out that we should always be aware of stereotypes. Stereotypes in the classroom setting can perpetuate harm and can stunt the discussion and exploration of topics, especially topics relating to historical marginalization. The article suggests steering away from activating prior knowledge that is based in stereotypes and instead try to begin studies using authentic voices and primary source material.
