Nsibidi is an ancient script used to communicate in various languages in West Central Africa. Nsibidi is most famously used by the Ekoi people in Nigeria and Cameroon. It is beleived that the script dates back to 5000 BC, but there is archaeological evidence from Nigeria that dates back to 2000 BC.

Ukara cloth is an artifact that shows the use of Nsibidi. Ukara is cotton cloth, usually dyed indigo with white Nsibidi patterns shown in a grid.

Igbo, Ibibio, Ekois, and Efik are all languages that use Nsibidi.

Nsibidi is significant to its users because it is made up of over 1,000 symbols that convey a wide variety of meanings. It has been useful for people in many different contexts.
