Vocabulary:

Teacher will project the word “martyr” on the screen and ask students what they know about this word. We will list out when we have heard this word during various lessons throughout the year. Teacher will project the following definition for “martyr”

A martyr can be defined as someone who sacrifices their life or suffers greatly for a cause they believe in, typically related to their religion, beliefs, or principles. Martyrs are often celebrated or revered by their community or followers for their courage, conviction, and dedication to their faith or cause. They are seen as examples of unwavering commitment and selflessness.
