One story from Usama Ibn Munqidh that I would use is his autobiography. Specifically, Usama talks about sending his son out so he can learn about wisdom and chivalry. This can be quite useful in my homeroom class, as I can talk about the importance of male role models. I can have my students reflect on their behavior as sons and daughters, and the lessons that they are learning from their parents. This will help to facilitate discussion in my homeroom students.
