The author identifies the effects of the slave trade and how devastating it has been to the continent of Africa. It has affected their economy, cultural and psychological progress as well as its people and their worldly view of them.  To begin healing, they must affirm the thrust of the Durban Declaration and Program of Action in declaring that massive harms committed by various European governments, institutions,corporations and families equated to crimes against African humanity.  The Accra Declaration on Reparations and Racial Healing, a groundbreaking document to chart a new path for the reparations movement.These countries are seeking validation that what was done to them was inhumane and has set them back. They want to continue to build a legacy they are proud of to show that they are more capable than what everyone else has set them to be.
