I chose the lesson about the book, Bottle Tops: the Art of El Anatsui by Alison Goldberg because I feel that it best fits the theme of distributing African stories in my learning environment.  This lesson is made for 6th grade students, but I believe that it can be modified for the 4th grade students that I teach.  I really like the questions that encourage students to slow down and think about every objects in different ways and consider the time, effort, and talent that an artist must use when creating art.

Students will be interested in how the artist takes a common object like bottle tops and makes them something beautiful.  I think that I can partner with our art teacher and STEM teacher in sharing this book and lesson and having students make artwork with common objects.
